# Shockwave 11 |

Adobe has released Shockwave Player 11 in a universal version. The new version adds native Intel Mac support as well as support for Director 11

Shockwave is one of five internet protocols I consider essential, the other 4 being:

QuickTime
Flash
Java
RealPlayer

RealPlayer is fading in popularity, I only see it once in while, mostly when viewing NASA TV. When you try to find it at NASA, I only find it in Media Player format. The supposed link to the RealPlayer version does not connect. With Flip4Mac, media player material will display in QuickTime.

Apple Care has formated a fill-in form which you can copy and paste into favorite word processing application, including TextEdit. Complete the form by accessing your settings in your mail app’s Preferences Then print it out and save in it somewhere you can find it, if needed to reconfigure or to provide setting to your internet provider. Firefox 2.0.0.13 offers no new features, but fixes a handful of security issues. Download

SeaMonkey 1.1.9, Mozilla’s all-in-one internet suite, closes several security vulnerabilities and fixes several smaller problems found in previous versions.

Safari 3.1 has a new Develop menu (accessed by the Advanced tab in Preferences). It is not for everyone, although in the new menu you can change the User Agent, allowing Safari to look like a different browser, in the event of Mac marginalization.

A significant update to Safari iS available The update addresses 13 security vulnerabilities. Safari 3.1 for Mac OS X requires Mac OS X Leopard or Mac OS X Tiger version 10.4.11. Safari is the first browser to support the new video and audio tags in HTML 5 and the first to support CSS Animations. Safari also supports CSS Web Fonts, giving designers limitless choices of fonts to create stunning new web sites.

This FireFox release fixes a number of security and stability issues discovered in Firefox 2.0.0.11. A list of fixed security issues is available.

As with FireFox, SeaMonkey 1.1.8 closes several security vulnerabilities and fixes several smaller problems found in previous versions. Containing an Internet browser, email & newsgroup client, HTML editor, IRC chat and web development tools, SeaMonkey is sure to appeal to advanced users, web developers and corporate users.

# Netscape near death |

Bloomberg reports AOL is no longer supporting Netscape which was acquired by them in 1999 for $9.8 million. Netscape once had 80 of the web market and can be credited with demonstrating the validity of the web. AOL can no longer provide the necessary resources to improve Netscape. More …

Critical vulnerabilities have been identified in Adobe Flash Player 9.0.48.0 and earlier, 8.0.35.0 and earlier, and 7.0.70.0 and earlier. To avoid the vulnerability, Adobe recommends upgrading to Flash Player 9.0.115.0. This update was mentioned earlier this month. For those not running Mac OS X, a patched version of Flash Player 7 is available.

Camino is more compatible with Leopard, together with important stability and security fixes.
