# Flip4Mac WMV Player 2.1.3.3 |

Telestream released Flip4Mac WMV Player 2.1.3.3 beta. Flip4Mac enables QuickTime to play Windows Media Video (WMV).

According to Telestream, version 2.1.3.3,

Fixed issue with failed exports after installing QuickTime 7.2

If you are using QuickTime 7.2, you are recommended to upgrade to Flip4Mac WMV Player 2.1.3.3 beta (with the opportunity to register any bug reports). I don’t expect you to be very busy.

QuickTime 7.2 addresses two critical security fixes and also adds support for full screen viewing in QuickTime Player (something I have wanted), updates to the H.264 codec, and bug fixes. The security fixes a potential memory corruption due to QuickTime’s prior handling of maliciously crafted movie files.

Apple also released iTunes 7.3.1, which addresses a reported problem with iTunes 7.3 accessing the iTunes Library.
Both are available via Software Update preferences.

What’s New in this Version:

QuickTime 7.1.6 delivers numerous bug fixes, addresses a critical security issue with QuickTime for Java and includes support for:

- Final Cut Studio 2
- Timecode and closed captioning display in QuickTime Player

CrunchGear reports that inside of QuickTime 7.1.5 is an ability to Export to Apple TV. While iTunes is the expect source, it is QuickTime that provides the backbone. iTunes and QuickTime updates are released together, as it was this time with iTunes 7.1.1 and QuickTime 7.1.5. Important Notice for QuickTime 5 and 6 Pro Users

Flip4Mac has announced the release of Flip4Mac WMV version 2.1. Release highlights are said to include universal support for Macintel kit and and significantly faster Windows Media encoding.

“We are pleased to offer Intel support for the large base of Mac users who have been eager to receive this release since our announcement in April,” said Barbara DeHart, vice president. “Considerable buzz has been generated throughout the Mac community as is evidenced by the immense number of users who offered to participate in our beta testing process.”

Flip4Mac WMV is a collection of QuickTime components that enables Mac users to play, import and export Windows Media files using QuickTime-based applications. In addition to universal support for Mactel hardware, v2.1 includes significantly faster export optimizations for PPC users—four to six-times faster than earlier versions.

Ars Technica notes a tiny AppleScript that allows QuickTime Player to display movies fullscreen without the purchase of QuickTime Pro.
