Impact: Visiting a malicious website may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution

Description: A heap buffer overflow exists in QuickTime’s handling of HTTP responses when RTSP tunneling is enabled. By enticing a user to visit a maliciously crafted webpage, an attacker may cause an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution. This update addresses the issue through improved bounds checking.

* Addresses an issue in which Microsoft Windows clients may misinterpret shared folders’ ACL settings.

# QuickTime 7.3 and iTunes 7.5 |

QuickTime 7.3 for Leopard (download, 52.6MB)—Issues addressed include support for iTunes 7.5, updated support for creating iPhone-compatible web content, updated JavaScript support in the QuickTime Web Plug-in and numerous bug fixes.

Versions of QuickTime 7.3 for Panther and Tiger are available.

iTunes 7.5 (download, 41.1MB)—iTunes 7.5 features the ability to activate iPhone wherever service is offered and support for Phase, a new interactive music game designed exclusively for iPod nano (third generation), iPod classic, and iPod (fifth generation). This release also includes bug fixes to improve stability and performance.

# Flip4Mac WMV Player 2.2.0.39 |

Telestream’s Flip4Mac WMV Player internet plugin and components for QuickTime allows one to play Windows video files, .wma and .wmv in a Web browser as well as QuickTime Player.

Flip4Mac WMV Player 2.2.0.39 is available for download.

The preference pane in System Preferences under the “Update” tab, would only take me to version 2.1.3.10. Try it and see if it will download the latest.

According to Telestream, the new version 2.2.0.39 includes:

A MacInTouch reader notes that after the update, songs purchased through iTunes can now be used in iLife applications projects and that project burned to DVD without requiring authorization.
