If renaming a file you may get a message that said either “You don’t have sufficient access” or “You don’t have appropriate access privileges.” This may mean you tried to repair this situation by make a change to the Sharing and Permissions listings in the Finder’s Info window for a folder, and then select the “Apply to enclosed items” option from the Info window’s Action pop-up menu. You’re especially likely to see these symptoms if you do this for the Home directory itself. Here is the solution for a problem, an unannounced feature of Leopard.

If your computer won’t start up normally, you may need to use a disk repair utility to fix the issue. Mac OS X includes two utilities for this—Disk Utility and fsck. You can also use these even when your computer starts just fine but you want to check the disk for possible file system issues. PRAM has been with Mac from the beginning. it has been used to keep the time zone, startup volume and speaker volume. Resetting of the PRAM thus required resetting the computers time. Mac OS X stores even more in PRAM, such as kernel panic information. This Apple Care article describes what Mac OS X stores in PRAM.

If unable to reset the clock in an older Mac, it may indicate a PRAM battery change is necessary. This list has the Mac and battery part number.

DiskWarrior 4.1 features full compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5.x (Leopard). Primarily, this release includes the ability to repair Time Machine backups by working with damaged directory hard links.
