# Shockwave 11 | March 31st, 2008

Adobe has released Shockwave Player 11 in a universal version. The new version adds native Intel Mac support as well as support for Director 11

Shockwave is one of five internet protocols I consider essential, the other 4 being:

QuickTime
Flash
Java
RealPlayer

RealPlayer is fading in popularity, I only see it once in while, mostly when viewing NASA TV. When you try to find it at NASA, I only find it in Media Player format. The supposed link to the RealPlayer version does not connect. With Flip4Mac, media player material will display in QuickTime.
