iLife and iWork should supplant some of the more expensive versions

This update enables file system journaling on MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook computers. Some MacBook and MacBook Pro systems were shipped with file system journaling turned off. Journaling is recommended on all Mac computers as a preventative measure against file corruption. Download page

# A 867MHz G4 required for Leopard |

According to AppleInsider, the minimum system specs states that Leopard requires “an Intel processor or a PowerPC G4 (867 MHz or faster) or G5 processor,” as well as a DVD drive, built-in FireWire, at least 512MB of RAM and at least 9GB of hard disc space.

# Macworld 2008 |

Registration for Macworld 2008 is available. The 2008 Macworld Conference & Expo takes place between January 14 -18, 2008 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA. Use priority code 08-E-VF01 for free Exhibit Hall passes until October 5th. Last year they extended the time to apply, but there is no guarantee.

If you have updated to Mac OS X 10.4.10 and do not use a 811.11n router, your MacBook Pro will experience random disconnects. Apple Discussions “Internet, and Networking the MacBook Pro” has a post by number6, who provides a fairly simple fix. A MacInTouch reader has posted the text to the MacBook Pro report.

Another fix would be to buy a 802.11n router.

# Mossberg reviews the iPod Touch |

While covering all its features, Mossberg did note that the battery does not last as long, in his tests, as Apple claims. He thought this was unusual as every other iPods exceeds Apple’s battery claims. Mossberg also noted reports of iPod Touch screen defects.
