Note: QuickTime is a major engine for iLife, and parts of Mac OS X, together with a number of 3rd party applicaitons such as Toast, Thoth, cell phones, and any others who make use of Apple’s QuickTime Developer Pages.

Gizmodo reports that a free software solution for unlocking the iPhone has been released. Operating under the iPhone Dev Team moniker, a group of hackers have created iUnlock.

The free software iPhone unlock—the only one that counts—has finally been achieved, and it has been independently tested. Everyone can now unlock their iPhones for free. The names of the rebel heroes from the iPhone Dev Team are (in alphabetical order): Daeken, Darkmen, gray, guest184, iZsh, pytey, roxfan, Sam, uns, Zappaz, Zf, plus Nightwatch for his iPhone toolchain.
