After releasing the last performance patch a few weeks ago, we have not rested and we have eliminated another set of performance bottlenecks in NeoOffice’s underlying OpenOffice.org code and fixed those bottlenecks by replacing the OpenOffice.org code with code that is optimized specifically for Mac OS X.

As a result of our fixes, text layout and drawing speed is now 2 to 2.5 times faster than it was in the last patch. Put anther way, laying out a document’s text is now done in 40% to 50% of the time. While users who use only short documents may not notice much change, users with large text-based documents will notice much smoother scrolling, faster relayout of the document when changes are made, less CPU usage, and shorter print times.
