AppleInsider: A forthcoming update to Apple Inc.’s 13-inch line of consumer MacBooks won’t deliver much in terms of new features, AppleInsider has learned. Meanwhile, the dimensions of the company’s ultra portable sub-notebook initiative are taking shape.

Tech.co.uk reports that Apple may be prepping a ‘two-sided’ iPhone Nano, according to a patent filed by the company.

The patent (number 0070103454) could reveal plans for a smaller iPhone. The patent states:

“An electronic device uses separate surfaces for input and output. One of the surfaces (e.g. the bottom) includes a force-sensitive touch-surface through which a user provides input (e.g. cursor manipulation and control element selection)

“On a second surface (e.g. the top), a display element is used to present information appropriate to the device’s function (e.g. video information), one or more control elements and a cursor. The cursor is controlled through manipulation of the back-side touch-surface. The cursor identifies where on the back-side touch-surface the user’s finger has made contact.” More …

According to Bloomberg, Apple’s market share for March 2007 in laptops reached nearly 10 percent, desktops 8 percent and MP3 players 69 percent. That placed Apple fourth, fifth and first respectively. More …
