In subscribing to AOL, you are to believe that you can create a 16 character password. Except that the AOL system reads just the first 8 characters, as detailed by the Washington Post. Stanford’s Speaking of Computers, has an article on password tenancies which should cause a user to review their own passwords. For example, the seven most common passwords are: 1) no password at all, 2) sex, 3) love, 4) god, 5) secret, 6) money, and 7) password? Computer software would take only minutes or less to crack password1935, even if the system reads all 12 characters.
