Axiotron and Other World Computing [Expo booth 2218] previewed the Axiotron ModBook, a Mac tablet computer created through a hardware modification that melds a MacBook, new 13.3″ wide screen LCD, WACOM Penabled hardware for pen input, optional Global Positioning System, handwriting recognition, integrated iSight camera, and CD/DVD combo drive in a satin chrome plated magnesium top shell. The ModBook base configuration, with a suggested retail price of $2,279, is based on a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo Apple MacBook with full ModBook tablet conversion and a one year OWC warranty. Through January 31, Other World Computing is offering the base configuration plus the built-in Axiotron GPS Module at a special introductory price of $2,199.
