# Fox to debut programs on iTunes |

MultiChannel News states that the first episodes of all upcoming Fox Reality original series will debut on the iTunes Store. Viewers will be able to download these programs for free for approximately a week prior to their premieres on the network.

“We’re fortunate to have enjoyed some real success with our original content on iTunes and so this seemed like the next logical step,” said Fox Reality COO and general manager David Lyle. More …

According to CNet, the Web traffic growth for online retailing was only 12% over 2005 using the Nielsen/Net Ratings Holiday eShopping Index that tracks more than 120 online retailers. In comparison, the growth was 29% for 2004/2005 and 11% for 2003/2004. eBay was first in Web traffic, followed by Amazon.com and Walmart.com. More …

# ‘Tablet Mac’ in 2007? |

Smarthouse, quoting unnamed Taiwanese sources, reports that Apple plans to launch a ‘Tablet Mac’ in 2007 with a type of docking station.

The rumor mill also relied heavily upon the various touch-screen patents Apple has lodged in past year. According to the report, the Mac Tablet “has been designed to handle third party applications such as home automation software that will allow users to control lighting, audio, entertainment devices and security feeds. It also acts as a full blown PC has wireless linking for a new generation of Wireless Hi Fi speakers that are currently being tested by Apple.” More …

According to iTWire, Apple has commissioned research to try and determine if the much-discussed ‘halo effect’ — the notion that people who buy its wildly successful iPod music player are more likely to subsequently purchase a Mac — actually exists. More …

The Sydney Morning Herald profiles a number of different VoIP solutions, including Apple’s iChat and Skype.

Apple got into the internet chatting business early with iChat and the iSight camera-microphone, with which you can text, talk and video-conference with up to 10 people on your buddy list in audio and three in video, but all points need good broadband. Apple has confirmed this article in a KB article 304819 that states:

“If the Classic environment is running and you attempt to video chat with iChat or use iSight in PhotoBooth, an alert message may appear that the iSight camera is in use by another application.”

Mac OS X fails to properly handle corrupted UDTO HFS+ image structures (ex. bad sectors), leading to an exploitable denial of service condition. Safari automatically opens dmg files, by default. This can be prevented by changing the Preferences and deactivating the functionality for ‘opening “safe” files after downloading’.
