The Beatles’ Apple Corps has launched an appeal against the British High Court ruling against the company in its lawsuit with Apple Computer, VNUNet reports.
“With great respect to the trial judge, we consider that he has reached the wrong conclusion,” said Neil Aspinall, general manager of Apple Corps, who has worked for the Beatles since the 1960s.
Apple Corps’ lawyers believe they stand a strong chance of overturning the original decision on appeal. The High Court ruled recently that Apple Computer had not violated the 1991 agreement between the two companies, and that the iTMS represented only a shop-front. The judge also ridiculed Apple Corps’ claim that the iPod was a computer with music. He ordered Apple Corps to pay Apple Computer’s legal costs, thought to be around £3 million.
