Single of the Week

Jack White steps out of the spotlight (sort of) to put himself in the ranks of the Ranconteurs. Joining him are acclaimed power-pop songwriter Brendan Benson and members of garage-rock marvels the Greenhornes. Jack takes the lead here, opting not to journey out into the primordial ooze of the blue but rather to nestle into the heart of a razor-sharp pop song. Steady, As She Goes is the “free” Single of the Week.

Discovery Download

This track [Ed—again?!?] from Willie & Lobo’s 10th release puts a Middle Eastern spin on their full-bodied, tasteful Latin jazz and funk. Heavy on the violins and flamenco-guitar accents, Willie and Lobo imagine a world where gypsies can still celebrated until dawn. Zambra is the “free” Discovery Download.
