According to AppleInsider, sales of Intel Macs are reported to be better than Apple expected. .Macs sales are up and the credit goes to .iLife and especially iWeb. MacWorld magazine recently reported that the new Apple iMac Core Duo doesn’t live up to Apple’s speed claims.

MacSpeedZone’s tests show that the new iMac Core Duo does live up to the hype. Not only did the new iMac wipe the floor with the old model in their tests, but using MacWorld’s own test methodology would allow MacSpeedZone to conclude that the new Intel iMac is almost as fast as a PowerMac Quad G5.

AppleInsider’s sources report, “Apple Computer this week is expected to begin widespread testing of Mac OS X 10.4.5 Update, the next in a series of maintenance updates to its Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” operating system and the first update to address bugs lingering the company’s initial release of Mac OS X 10.4.4 for Intel-based Macs”.

Ars Technica comments about NPD Group’s report that iWork has 2.7 percent of the productivity suite market This compares to the 90 percent occupied by Office, but more importantly, does this mean 67% of the Mac market share (4%) is using iWork?

“OpenOffice developers have created a version of the open source productivity suite for Apple’s new Intel powered Macs”, as reported by Silicon Valley Sleuth.

Actually, it is a work in progress, but most agree OpenOffice will still beat M$$$$

CNN: “Nearly nine out of 10 U.S. businesses suffered from a computer virus, spyware or other online attack in 2004 or 2005 despite widespread use of security software, according to an FBI survey released on Thursday.”

Let see now, that would be the 90 percent owned by the darkside.

At MacWorld, David Pogue presented his own version of a talk show, “Macworld Live!”

Featuring guest appearances from “Joy of Tech” co-creator Bruce Evans, GeekCulture creator artist Liza Schmalcel, Garage Technology Ventures managing director (and one-time Apple evangelist) Guy Kawasaki, and Artbeats Software CEO Phil Bates, as well as song parodies from Pogue himself.
